This week’s Snapshot Sunday comes from Mureung Valley in Korea’s Gangwon province. Mureung Valley lies between the mountains of Dutasan and Cheongoksan. They valley is home to many waterfalls, streams, rock formations, and a beautiful Buddhist Temple. I visited in the fall of 2011 on a trip to Samcheok and Mureung Valley was a lovely place to hike in what I consider to be Korea’s most beautiful province. Oh, and pro tip, don’t drink makgeolli by the gallon the night before you hike. And if you do drink a lot of makgeolli the night before, don’t venture off the paths in search of a quicker way back to a food source.

Beautiful. Reminds me of a lot of the hills and valleys here at home.

If Wales looks like that, then I am definitely excited to visit. Also, make sure you go to Gangwon-do when you’re in SoKo.
You know you’ve been in Korea for a while when you drink while you hike…also, beautiful pics. I adore Gangwon-do.

Thanks Tom! I agree, I think Gangwon-do is probably my favorite province that I visited in Korea.
