Last weekend was the peak time for this year’s cherry blossoms in Seoul. I headed over to Yeouido, an island in the middle of the Han River, where there are most trees. Seemingly every other person in the Seoul metropolitan area had the same idea, but the perfect spring weather made it easier to justify pushing through the throngs of people.
There really wasn’t as much of a “festival” atmosphere as I’d expected but the blossoms were abundant and for a moment, if I only looked toward the river and the trees, it was easy to forget that I was standing in the second largest city in the world.
Overall, it was an incredibly enjoyable way to spend a Saturday afternoon, especially one that boasted the best weather we’ve had all year.
