Grass is always greener, I guess :) Thanks for the recommendation, I will have to check that out!

I’ve also hunted down places and foods I’ve seen on Anthony Bourdain – it’s such a fun and tasty travel challenge! Well, usually. The “hand-picked mountain greens” I choked down in Greece at his urging tasted like weeds. LOL!

Your reading list is putting me to shame. It’s July and I’ve only read a total of 5 books so far this year.

I love those random nights like that and this is a really memorable one for sure! How weird that you couldn’t go back to the hostel drunk- silly rule but glad you defied it, had fun and didn’t get kicked out!

Reading your stuff about Basque country really makes me want to go visit there and see where they came from!

I always find the unexpected destinations and change of plans wind up being the best ones… I love that you wound up in Spain and even walked a portion of the Camino!

I’m sorry to hear that Italy kind of underwhelmed you this time, but I have to admit our experiences last summer were pretty much the same (minus the dirty old trains—I was actually really impressed with the trains in Italy… way better than the ones I experienced back in 2005!). It was probably the country we were the most excited to visit in western Europe (England not withstanding!) and we left feeling like it was the one we’d be the least likely to revisit any time soon. I don’t have the same ties to the country that you do, but yeah… I get it.
