What I'd like to think :) That’s exactly how I feel – part of the machine, no one can deny, but doing their bit to rebel and show their true personalities whenever possible. I do think, though, that they are at least some part of the k-pop machine. I mean, they are part of the YG family and were put together by the label. I think that because they are talented, and the fact that there's only 4 of them, has let them break out of the mold a little. I'm sure they have a persona they are told to keep up, but I'd like to believe it's actually a little bit of who they are :) THEY ARE! In my opinion, no one else even compares. Their songs are catchy and smart, and I love the styles they rock. Just as you said, too, I heavily appreciate the fact that they're feisty and never cutesie. I really like to think that the girls are showing their true personalities, even though I know the k-pop industry means that's pretty unlikely. I'd love to hear your opinion - do you think they're showing some of their real life identities, or is their styling and persona just another part (albeit a much more interesting one) of the k-pop machine? I hope they can make it big around the world and that their tour in the US is successful. After your warning about photos I kept my phone in my bag the entire time. I did NOT want to risk being thrown out! Thanks for that advice, otherwise I'd probably have tried. YES, that is exactly why I like 2NE1. They're my absolute FAVOURITE Korean group - they're phenomenal! You're right that this is the Korean group that needs to go international too. They're not sickly sweet and devoid of personality like the vast majority of other girl groups in the country. Their first single, "Fire", was the BIG song when I arrived in Korea and I heard it everywhere, so I've had a soft spot for them ever since. Shame you didn't get any photos inside but I remember them being SUPER strict during the Big Bang concert and they kicked a load of people out.
