And it reminded me so much of myself – just the other way around! I had just turned 18 when I spent two months in the States and I was completely dazzled by all the amazing new flavors I discovered there: Cinnamon rolls, fresh shrimps in Charleston, incredibly fluffy pancakes… I mean, can you believe I never even had shrimps before? Or fried oyster? Or okra?
When I came back I was 16 pounds heavier (oh my) and obsessed with learning how to make a perfect French toast. It probably wasn’t all healthy, but food is so closely intertwined with culture and language that it is just such a great (and delicious!) way to get to know a country better. Oh, and meanwhile I absolutely make THE best scrambled eggs ever :)
